Vienna Nightlife Guide

Plenty of options to spend fun nights out in the world’s most liveable city. Here’s an insider’s guide to the best nightlife in Vienna. How about a fancy cocktail at the Sofitel’s rooftop bar with a lovely 360°… view of Vienna? For cheaper drinks, a more relaxed atmosphere and hipper crowd go to 25hours Hotel beim MuseumsQuartier. Views from the rooftop bar are great, too, but come early on the weekends or you might end up waiting in line for hours.

Lots of bars can also be found in the Bermudadreieck around Schwedenplatz, many of them catering to a party crowd with dance floors in the basement. Try The Look Bar or Wunder-Bar Wien. If you’re a fan of pubs, you’ll find Pickwick’s International Pub, Book and Video store and Dick Mack’s Vienna right across from each other by Schwedenplatz.

For a more loungy atmosphere, check out DOTS – Restaurant Bar Lounge or Cafe Leopold. The latter turns into a little nightclub with a small dance floor downstairs.

In terms of clubbing, my favorites are PRATERSAUNA and <>< Grelle Forelle for some nice electronic beats. Though recently, I have come to love Volksgarten on Saturdays, especially during the summer when you can dance outside in the garden area until the early morning hours. FLEX often has some cool DJs playing.

On Wednesdays, you can go to Babenberger Passage. If you ever feel like partying on Tuesday, try the clubs at the Gürtel underneath the U6 metro line like All In Club or Ride Club. But be warned, it’s a very young crowd and I don’t like either of them too much. I should also mention Chaya Fuera and Platzhirsch for rather mainstream clubbing – dress up!
